David Gold: We won't gamble with the club's future
Jun 13 2009 by Robert Tanner, Birmingham Mail
“The gamble is underwritten by myself and David Sullivan. If we fail then it is us who fail and not Blues. We gamble with our own money. Last season that gamble paid off.
“Just look at our record. Whenever the chips have been down we have invested. We battle but we don’t risk the club.
“We are different to other owners, we underwrite the risk ourselves.
“We also minimise our gamble. We try to reduce the odds so there is a greater percentage of success. We have 16 years experience now at this club and we have learned so much.
“No other Board in the Football League has been together as long without changes. That is remarkable.
“Alex works very closely with the Board and has got the tools to get us back up.
“We want to give Alex every chance of making sure we stay in the Premier League because relegation last time was the worst feeling I have had in my 16 years with the club and all of us want to avoid a repeat.”
