Cameron Jerome has urged Sebastian Larsson to sign a new deal

CAMERON Jerome has urged Sebastian Larsson to follow his lead and sign a new Blues contract.

Jerome this week inked a deal until 2014, three years guaranteed plus a two-year option.

Talks have resumed with Larsson about a similar deal, against the backdrop of constant speculation concerning his future ever since Blues’ Premier League relegation in 2008.

A new contract was left unsigned by Larsson that summer, and he admitted he struggled to come to terms with another Championship campaign initially.

Last week his agent again spoke about other clubs being interested in the Swedish international winger.

“Everyone would like to see Seb commit his future to the club,” said Jerome, who believes he will put pen to paper in time.

“He’s still a young lad as well, he’s learning his game and I think he’s settled in Birmingham now.

“Everyone gets on with him around the training ground, the fans like him and he’s a good lad.

“He’s the sort of player you want in your squad, you don’t want to lose his quality. He’s got it in abundance. At the same time, the deal has got to be right for him.

“If he can agree terms, then I can’t see why he wouldn’t want to sign.”
