Alex McLeish says Stuttgart game should have given Birmingham City a TV windfall

ALEX McLeish revealed that Blues believed they would get a financial windfall from the friendly against VfB Stuttgart.

It was a testing game to have first on their pre-season tour, bearing in mind FC Augsburg came hot on the heels.

German television were supposed to have covered it live from Zell am See.

“The gameplan, having studied it over the years, is that you normally hand pick teams just to get some confidence and score goals,” he said.

“This year, for some reason, we got Stuttgart, which we took on because we were going to get a little bit of television money.
