Birmingham City v Manchester United: The fans have their say

Birmingham City may have been beaten in the opening fixture against Manchester United but it wasn't all doom and gloom, the fans have been telling us what they thought.

Here's a selection...

Jazzy786: Chucho looked excellent when he came on. Remember he's not fully fit yet so if he's that fast at 80-85% imagine him at 100%. Great performance from the lads. Lets hope we can keep the same level of performance against the lesser sides. We always raise our game against the better teams and look uninterested against the lesser teams. McFadden played his best game in a Blues shirt and Ferguson was pure class on the ball. Was very impressed with our passing and composure on the ball

Do we play the same team against Portsmouth or do we go 4-4-2? We need Fahey and Ferguson in the centre but do we need Carsley to mop up in front of the back four or go an extra man up front?

LichfieldBlue: I'm just wondering how his knockers are feeling after yesterday. One game does not make a season, but the way we played yesterday was some of the best football I have seen from a Blues' side in many years - and McLeish is now able to start calling it his team - he hasn't has bags of money, but has known the kind of players he wanted. On a decent playing surface we moved the ball around excellently at times, the shape of the team was good and for most of the game our organisation was really good. OK there were one or two lapses - but the same can be said of Man U when we got in behind them.

And let's not forget the substitutes - no one can say they were not positive moves by bringing on three attacking players and they all made a positive role.

There was a spirit and a determination yesterday as well as some decent football played - so who is going to give McLeish at least some credit for organising the team and having a game plan that could well have got us a point that I think we probably deserved?
