Birmingham City: Karren Brady expected to quit MD's role at Blues
KARREN Brady's exit as Blues managing director has drawn another step closer with the news that she is to join Alan Sugar on the hit television show The Apprentice.
Brady has agreed to replace Margaret Mountford, who has left to study for a PhD in ancient literature.
She was one of Lord Sugar's trusted lieutenants on the BBC programme, casting her critical eye on the wannabee businessmen and businesswomen.
Carson Yeung, who is set to complete his takeover of Blues in around five weeks, has said that he wanted Brady to stay at St Andrew's.
But this latest development, coupled with Brady's stated desire over the past couple of years to seek pastures new, is likely to mean a parting of the ways.
Yeung, though, might offer Brady a part-time consultancy role to help smooth the ownership transition.
Brady has already nominated her successor, Yeung's right-hand man Sammy Yu, who was in Birmingham last week for talks.
Yu, who also watched Blues defeat at Spurs on Saturday before flying back to Hong Kong, is the current chief operating officer of Grandtop International, Yeung's takeover vehicle.
In her national newspaper diary column, Brady described Yu as 'the chap who is replacing me'.
