Birmingham City: Karren Brady expected to quit MD's role at Blues

She wrote, relating to his call to Middlesbrough about Tuncay, "I know Sammy because he was involved in initial talks with Carson Yeung.

"His heart is in the right place but he does have impulsive tendencies. He bragged that Blues would make £20m profit this season, then withdrew it."

Apart from a Grandtop press conference in Hong Kong to announce the takeover, Yu has declined requests for interviews.

But in the two years since Yeung took a 29.9 per cent stake in the club, he is known to have done plenty of homework on Blues - football and business-wise - as well as gauged the mood of supporters and their likely demands of new owners.

A source close to Yu and Grandtop have told the Birmingham Mail that the Chinese do not want to speak publicly yet until the takeover has been completed.

The insider said: "Mr Yeung wants to have control of the club first and then tell fans what the plans are, and address and explain the issues that have been brought up in the last couple of weeks."
