Seb Larsson says Birmingham City are now better equipped to survive Premiership battle

“The signs for us to progress and become a better football team are definitely there.

“Now it’s about making those performances into points.”

Larsson continued: “We know what the problem was two years ago. It wasn’t maybe Tottenham away or Man United away. It was the lesser teams.

“Maybe we would have lost a game against Stoke at home last time round and we’re not doing that at the moment. So let’s stay positive.”

McLeish was desperate to add to his squad before the transfer deadline.

Blues just had to accept that the out-going board were unable to provide any more money for significant transfers, said Larsson.

Teemu Tainio was added on loan, however, and Larsson said he was confident in the strength of Blues’ squad.

“Other teams have been doing business. That’s nothing we can control,’’ he said.

“I think we should have enough in the squad and we’ve still got quite a lot of injured lads to come back.

“We need to make sure we stay up and stay in the league and I believe we can do that.
