Seb Larsson says Birmingham City are now better equipped to survive Premiership battle

‘I think there’s enough there for us and the signs of the way we are playing are good too, a lot better than last time in the Premier League, especially the way we pass the ball around.”

Blues’ next outing is the derby against Villa at St Andrew’s on September 13.

“We mentioned that in the dressing room after Tottenham, that the Villa game was a nice one to come back into it after the international break,” said Larsson.

“Let’s keep progressing. Let’s hope we can get a good result against Villa and push on.”

Losing at White Hart Lane hurt Blues, said Larsson. Aaron Lennon’s winner in the fifth minute of stoppage-time cut to the core.

“It was one of those freakish goals. It was sickening,’’ he added.

“In the first half we had a plan to try and frustrate them and stay solid. We did that okay.

“For long spells of the second half I thought we had them. In the last 25 minutes they looked like they had gone.

“We probably had two or three good chances and they obviously got the one at the end.

“We have got to take the positives. It was at least a good performance.

“I know it doesn’t count for much if you don’t get points out of it but if we can keep pushing on in that way , then we should be okay. The performance itself was okay.”
