Birmingham City: Aston Villa taught us a harsh lesson - McLeish

ALEX McLeish has told Blues they must counter the ‘cruel and severe’ ways of Premier League life fast.
Having described the late derby defeat by Villa as ‘harsh’, coming on the back of the loss at Spurs in the fifth minute of stoppage-time, McLeish has urged that lessons be learned.
“We have plenty of time to go this season,” said the Blues boss, “but every point is also a prisoner and you can’t afford to throw them away.
“That’s something we’re emphasising to the players, there are lessons you have to learn in the Premier League, it is a very cruel and severe place where mistakes are punished.
“As harsh as it was against Villa, that’s the reality of this level we’re at. I felt the players were magnificent but we switched off at a free-kick and allowed two free headers.
