Birmingham City just need the final touch – Parnaby

Stuart Parnaby

STUART Parnaby today revealed that Blues’ derby pain remained raw.

And the defender admitted that for all the positives Blues could take from the Villa clash and other games so far on their return to the Premier League, it was all about claiming points.

Villa certainly found Blues more problematic than in recent previous meetings.

Not only did they bring a competitive edge that their rivals expected, but they surprised them with some slick passages of passing football.

“You can say that we did better against Villa than we have, and teams have got to respect us, but we have still got to come out and take a result,” said Parnaby.

“We can play well every week and it doesn’t matter if you don’t get results.

“The ugly stuff can win you games as much as playing good football.

“What made it a hard blow to take was that we did more or less everything really. The ugly stuff, we played well – both.

“First half it was probably as well as we have played this season.

“We just didn’t make the cutting edge or the good chances we needed. And it was gutting to lose to a set-play, it was a bad way to go. We have to bounce back. We’ve got a few days to recover before Hull away on Saturday and we know that no matter how you perform, it’s about getting the result and getting the points.”
