Double blow for Birmingham City
BLUES have been dealt more injury blows as their fears over James McFadden and Franck Queudrue were confirmed.
The pair both suffered tears in the derby defeat by Villa and are probably set to be out of action for around a month.
The striker and defender have been two of Blues’ best performers so far, as Alex McLeish admitted.
“We have lost McFadden and Franck for the foreseeable future,” he said.
“Both have muscle tears. I am not going to put any target dates on it at all. They will be back when they’re back.
“So that’s two players who have been in great form since the start of the season.
“It’s not ideal, obviously, but we will just get on and it’s up to the players who replace them to show what they can do,” he added.
McFadden came off at half-time against Villa after sustaining the damage to his thigh as he sprinted in pursuit Ashley Young by the Kop corner.
Queudrue injured his hamstring towards the end of the match on landing once he had completed clearing header from the penalty area. Both were sent for scans, which revealed the bad news.
Blues also had defender Roger Johnson and midfielder Barry Ferguson on the casualty list by the time the final whistle went.
Johnson was caught near the knee by a bad challenge from Stiliyan Petrov, and Ferguson suffered a neck problem after coming off worse in the air against John Carew.
