I came back from injury too soon, admits Birmingham City new boy Scott Dann

SCOTT Dann has admitted that his determination to impress as the new kid on the block backfired.
Dann, the £3.5 million capture from Coventry City, linked up with Blues having had a minor knee operation in the summer.
He was behind the rest of the players in the pre-season regime and pushed too hard to try to catch up.
“It was my own eagerness – and obviously the manager has brought me and was keen to see me – but I said I wanted to join in and joined in too much, and it backfired.

“It’s been horrible. Had I been here a while, I would have taken a little bit of time.
“But when you come to a new club you want to impress and show everyone what you can do.
“I didn’t feel right in training and in the couple of games I played in Austria, that was too soon.
“It’s just me. I wanted to be involved and I pulled my thigh coming back and it has kept me out for a few more weeks.
“I have strengthened it now and it’s still not where I want it to be but it’s going in the right direction and I have got two reserve games under my belt and I want to keep pushing on.”
Dann was primed to make his competitive debut at Hull City today, following Franck Queudrue’s torn hamstring.
