Birmingham City: Franck Queudrue backs Alex McLeish's 4-5-1 tactics

“As soon as we get control of the ball then we are not in danger and I think that’s the view we need to look at.

‘‘To be fair, I’m not in the manager’s head so I don’t know what he’s thinking but I agree with him.

“It’s a good one because with 4-5-1 we can go straight into a 4-3-3 when we’ve got the ball.

“Those who say it’s not offensive, I think they are wrong,” he said.

“Of course the fans need to be patient. We’ve got some new players and you can see that the team is solid. We are not Manchester United or Arsenal, those teams can have both.

“We need to get focused on being solid first and then when we get forward it’s not a gamble.

“The Premier League doesn’t forgive you for anything. If you make a mistake then you pay for it straight away,” he added.

Queudrue looks set to be available selection for Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor, although he faces a fight to win his place back in the Blues side.

However, whether or not he is involved against the Clarets, Queudrue is all to aware of the importance of this weekend’s fixture.

And he insists that Blues hold no fear from the fact that Burnley have already turned over Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland on home soil this season.

“Burnley are a contender to be fighting for survival and we don’t want to be around them come the end of the season, we want to be above them.

“They’re the type of team that we need to beat because it’s important for morale,” he said.

“You never know on a good day, anybody can beat anybody, that’s why football is so nice.”
