Burnley v Birmingham City: Colin Tattum's player ratings and match stats
HART 4
Terrible attempt at stopping Fletcher’s goal, couple of good saves but question marks now.
MAN OF THE MATCH: CARR 5
Plugged away and did his bit yet also seemed to be dragged down and frustrated.
QUEUDRUE 5
Back in early for injured Vignal, given hard time early on, off at the interval due to hamstring.
JOHNSON 4
Looked decidedly shaky, found Burnley’s nippy forward play difficult to contain.
DANN 4
Also pulled about and unable to get a sturdy handle on locking down opposition defensively.
McFADDEN 4
Ineffective, was well played by Burnley but one of those games when nothing came off.
FERGUSON 5
Scurrying performance and always showed for ball, got nowhere with it however.
TAINIO 4
Never got into game, usually a busy bee and tidy, lacked spark, overpowered by their midfield.
BOWYER 4
Struggled to make impact, was willing enough but not able to engineer danger.
FAHEY 4
Took a whack to ankle early on and game seemed to bypass him as well, never had a foothold.
O’CONNOR 4
Laboured in tough role, didn’t give up and competed, didn’t carry the menace required.
SUBSTITUTES:
Larsson (for Fahey, ht) again doesn’t seem quite with it, great goal from free-kick at end 4
Ridgewell (for Queudrue, ht) uncertain, on edge moments after thrown into rocky rearguard 4
Phillips (for Tainio, 67) thankless task, game already lost 4
Not used: McSheffrey, O’Shea, Carsley, Maik Taylor.
BURNLEY (4-5-1): Jensen; Mears, Carlisle, Caldwell, Jordan; Fletcher (Eagles, 73), Alexander, Bikey, Elliot, Blake (Kalvenes, 90); Nugent (Thompson, 87). Not used: Penny, Duff, McDonald, Gudjonsson.
BOOKINGS: Dann (24, foul), Ferguson (50, foul), Carr (78, foul) – Blues.

Not much for Blues’ travellers to get enthused about. Attendance: 20,102.
REF WATCH 6
K Friend (Leics): Didn’t make any big errors.
THE MANAGER 5
Some mitigating circumstances but Alex McLeish ultimately carries can.
GAME RATING 4
One to forget and hope is not repeated.
