Birmingham City chairman David Gold to leave the club
Oct 9 2009 by Colin Tattum, Birmingham Mail
DAVID Gold is to leave Blues after failing to reach an agreement with the Carson Yeung regime about his role.
Gold wanted to continue as chairman but Yeung had identified a vice-president position for the 72-year-old, which would have diluted his powers and responsibilities.
So Gold, who replaced Jack Wiseman in 1997 as Blues chairman, joins David Sullivan, brother Ralph, Karren Brady and Roger Bannister, the club’s finance director, through the St Andrew’s exit door.
Peter Pannu, on behalf of Yeung, said: “We have a lot of respect for David, he is a very nice person and we know the excellent job he has done for the club.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t offer him the position of chairman, which is what he wanted.
“We already have Vico Hui to come in as our chairman.
