Birmingham City fans discuss transfers, takeovers and formations with Colin Tattum

OUR man at Birmingham City, Colin Tattum, debated the issues of the day in his regular web chat with fans today.

Issues covered included the Birmingham City takeover by Carson Yeung, Birmingham City's 4-5-1 and 4-4-2 formations and possible Birmingham City transfer targets.

You can read the live blog in the box below:

Birmingham City Q&A with Colin Tattum(10/09/2009)
12:22
Steve Wollaston:  Hi all. Don't ask him any questions yet! I am early....
12:22
Steve Wollaston:  Thanks for joining us, there is obviously a lot to talk to Our Man at The Blues Colin Tattum about!
12:23
Steve Wollaston:  There are bound to be a few replications in questions and a very high volume of comments, don't be dissapointed if yours doesn't feature, hopefully we can answer as many as possible though.
12:26 [Comment From Azzurri]
Have you put the kettle on yet ?
12:26
Steve Wollaston:  Kettle is on mate.
12:27 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
Bostin - I'll have a tea!
12:27 [Comment From BlueMachine]
Hi Steve
12:27
Steve Wollaston:  Hi there!
12:27 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
wheres tatts, has he gone the chinese
12:27 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
I run one of the blogs / forums - the most common question at the moment is who are these mysterious backers that Carson has now that he didn't have before. I know that Colin has spoke to them. Any ideas?
12:27 [Comment From olly]
Hi Colin, have you seen the football rich list where CY is down as being worth 30million. Bit concerning that one!!
12:27
Steve Wollaston:  He is on the way...
12:28 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
Sorry Steve, I sent my question before I realised he wasn't there
12:28
Steve Wollaston:  Doing his pre-match warm up
12:28 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
haha
12:29 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
Tell him to stretch those fingers - he may well need them!!
12:29 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
steve do you think wolves will go down
12:29
Steve Wollaston:  Yes mate I think we are doomed.
12:29
Steve Wollaston:  Not for the lack of effort though
12:29
Colin Tattum:  Hello all, just having a pre-match huddle with self
12:29 [Comment From Dom]
Hull, Pompey and Wolves for me I think
12:29 [Comment From BlueMachine]
Come on Tatts my lunch break will have finished soon!
12:29 [Comment From Alan t]
come on tats pull ya finger out
12:29 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
Really Steve?
12:30 [Comment From Dom]
/hope
12:30 [Comment From Squig]
Tatts, any ideas the calibre of player we are targeting in January, understand that you cant name specific targets but what sort of category of player would you put them in.
12:30 [Comment From BlueMachine]
Hi Tatts
12:30
Steve Wollaston:  Just a reminder if your question doesn't show up I have it on hold or it has duplicated with another one. Ta
12:31
Colin Tattum:  Type of player January: the new list of possibles include top European strikers as I'm aware. Don't think there are any retired players on it...
12:31
Steve Wollaston:  How much money can Blues realistically be looking to spend in January then mate?
12:32 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
tatts,i think if CY wants to make us a big name back in his homeland then he will have to invest in a couple of quality players and also get us playing entertaining football so does this mean the end is near for AM
12:32 [Comment From BlueMachine]
Tatts, I know you haven't be told (or can't tell us if you have) exactly how much money is available in January, but IN YOUR OPINION, how much could you see us spending, and what kind of bracket (e.g £3-5m, £5-8m) of player do you think we'll be targeting?
12:32 [Comment From Dom]
Does McLeish have a known budget yet?
12:32
Colin Tattum:  Carson Yeung's wealth: I saw that listed as £30m. That's incorrect. Two years ago David Sullivan said he was worth £100m - £150m and he had had proof of that. I've been told that Yeung has made a considerable amount of money since. There are backers going to get involved, from what we gather, their identitites, other than Kingston Securities, are not yet known.
12:32 [Comment From NeilM]
Damn, and I thought we would be signing Maradona once he leaves Argentina, lol
12:33
Colin Tattum:  I don't know how much is to spend. My guess - guess - would be that if a player came up for, say, £8 million, they would be prepared to spend such an amount, on one individual.
12:33 [Comment From Azzurri]
Any news on who Kazza's replacement will be ?
12:33 [Comment From longbridge blue]
Do you think they are going to get a new stadium, will it be the old plans or something new.
12:33 [Comment From b marshall]
And what about this McSheffrey business?
12:33 [Comment From Mark Adams]
Do you think it is beyond the realms of fantasy to expect Trevor Francis to emerge in some capacity?
12:34
Colin Tattum:  McLeish is staying as manager, the new regime continually make that clear. They do not have anybody else lined up. He will meet with them next week and present his list and then they will talk about budgets...and 4-5-1 probably!
12:34 [Comment From Tizer.]
Dressing room bust up after Bolton followed by McLeish swearing in a press conference after Burnley.
12:34 [Comment From BlueMachine]
Tatts, can you see us going in for players Big Eck has always rated but has always been priced out of, e.g. Adam Johnson, Robert Lewandoski, Ferrie Bodde, Michel etc
12:34
Steve Wollaston:  Will just let Colin answer those few then, save us getting bogged down. Good questions folks
12:34
Expand
12:35 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
Michel would make a difference - we need a playmaker with pace
12:35 [Comment From Ramster]
Tatts,
12:35 [Comment From captain ginga]
harry hill what a player
12:35 [Comment From NeilM]
Look, it's Liam Ridgwell.
12:35 [Comment From BlueMachine]
why does Lee Bowyers head look copy and pasted??
12:35 [Comment From b marshall]
I agree with Kevb8II. The frenchman would make a difference, quite
12:35
Colin Tattum:  'Bust up'...frank exchange of views, players going at each other. Nothing unusual in that. In many respects it was good. As for swearing, the tactics debate had got under his skin and one unfortunate journo asked the question first up and McLeish went off on one.
12:36 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
that bloke in the middle of the pic looks like he could do a savage roll for us
12:36
Colin Tattum:  I can see Blues going for a centre-forward, wide left and attacking/central midfielder in January. Whether Michel stays on the list remains to be seen. Wouldn't be surprising if he did
12:36 [Comment From blues09]
who do you think will be become the MD? or any news tatts?
12:37
Colin Tattum:  New CEO should be finalised in next few days. Don't know who it is, but apparently someone with experience of football in this country
12:37 [Comment From Tizer.]
What are Peter Pannu's finance qualifications?
12:37 [Comment From Dom]
any idea of the wealth of these backers?
12:38 [Comment From Alan t]
What do you think about KB's golden hand shake and executive box to boot. ? Is their a chance to get this quashed?
12:38 [Comment From Tizer.]
Following the dressing room bust up and the press conference swearing episode, is McLeish "losing it"? It appears that way to the outside world.
12:38 [Comment From Squig]
what positions is Eck keen to bolster first?
12:38
Colin Tattum:  The new regime will re-open talks with the council about a new stadium
12:38 [Comment From Azzurri]
So give us the goss from your meeting(s) then Tatts !
12:39 [Comment From T Wills, Stirchley]
I hear hes lost the dressing room.
12:39 [Comment From blues09]
david dein, rick parry anyone?
12:39 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
lets hope the fans return now that the 2 cockney barrow boys have gone
12:39 [Comment From BlueMachine]
Rick Parry maybe?
12:39 [Comment From Dom]
will it be a brand new design or will it be the previous proposed design?
12:39 [Comment From Patrick]
do you know what day yeung is expected at the training ground?
12:39 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
What's this story about unpaid legal fees?
12:40
Colin Tattum:  Hopefully the issue of the backers etc will be answered next week when they have an unveiling press conference
12:40 [Comment From Ramster]
I think it will be Peter Kenyon
12:40
Colin Tattum:  It won't be Kenyon. Not at £3m a year
12:41 [Comment From BlueGreen]
Tell us what you really think of DS,DG & KB
12:41 [Comment From Mark Adams]
I think it will be JR Ewing
12:41 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
Is the press conference confirmed?
12:41 [Comment From BluSabre]
It wont be Peter Kenyon
12:41 [Comment From Ramster]
however he has exactly what bimingham need as a club
12:41 [Comment From BlueMachine]
Tatts, if you were manager (I hear Yeung is considering you if McLeish doesn't work out) which players would you be putting on a list for the new board to get?
12:41 [Comment From Squig]
what day is this unveiling press conference Tatts? Steve, thanks for posting my question after it had been answered would appear your timing is as good as a certain Hennessey howler last season.
12:41 [Comment From Ramster]
and that is a bloody clue on what he's doing
12:42 [Comment From BluSabre]
Tatts for manager!
12:42 [Comment From Dave S]
A player's wife told my wife that her hubby and others are not enjoying themselves. Have you heard about the dis-harnomy, or can't you say?
12:42
Colin Tattum:  The plan if for a Thursday press conference. They've got to make sure the keys they get work first...handover due on Monday
12:42 [Comment From Rossie]
Cheers for this tats. Let me tell ya, I love reading your news and blogs.
12:42 [Comment From Dom]
he wasn't on £3m a year. That sum was including the compensation he got when he moved from United to Chelsea. Thats what I read anyway.
12:43
Colin Tattum:  Heard nothing about this disharmony, no. On the contrary, there are no indications that there are 'problems'
12:43 [Comment From Guest]
dom dont believe evrything you read in the press
12:43 [Comment From Ramster]
its pocket money for an ambitious club
12:43 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
sully will probly charge them a tenner a piece to get the keys cut
12:44 [Comment From Ramster]
No i honestly believe even at £3m per year, BCFC need a Peter Kenyon to make this deal with the new regime work
12:44
Steve Wollaston:  Ok.... loads and loads of questions here to get through - the following 900 are all on the tatcics issue...
12:44 [Comment From Squig]
we need a winger, you cant play 4-5-1 without at least one winger!
12:44 [Comment From Pulisisafootballinggod]
451 rules colin. People who go on about 442 haven't got a clue.
12:44 [Comment From Steve-O]
Tatts - I know talking about systems does your head in - but don't you think 4-5-1 and the inevitable lack of goals is what's killing the attendances and the atmosphere at St. Andrews?
12:45 [Comment From Mark]
Wil Carson, question the 451 formation with big Eck
12:45 [Comment From jassyblue80]
How upset do you think big eck is with the consistent questioning of his tacticts? Lots of sides play 4 5 1 and don't get the same stick? Do you think it is because the players we have available are not suitable to play the formation?
12:45 [Comment From Dave S]
Tatts from what I gather there is a unhappy dressing room. I think you'll understand thet I can't disclose the player who I have got the info from. I am surprised I must admit.
12:45
Colin Tattum:  Personally I would go for Pavlyuchenko in January. He could well be available
12:45 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
If not Kenyan - we definitely need a high profile person with some cred.
12:45 [Comment From BlueGreen]
Now we have new owners, will there be soap, toilet rolls and paper towels in the Main Stand toilets for the Sunderland game?
12:45 [Comment From Ramster]
how much was Karen on?
12:45 [Comment From Mark Adams]
any news on cheap ticket prices long term?
12:45 [Comment From blues09]
tatts- will there be change in the ticket price system?
12:45 [Comment From longbridge blue]
Any plans for us owning our own training ground in the future, something the last owners failed to do unlike most if not all other clubs.
12:45 [Comment From otto the ledge]
come on tats you've wrote about 20 words!!!
12:46 [Comment From Ramster]
Blues should play a simple flat back 10, we cant score for toffee, so lets not conceed any, therefore drawing every game thats 38 point a season, we may just be sage
12:46 [Comment From Ramster]
safe not sage! lol
12:46 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
451 is ok but you need pacey wingers which is something we have not got so tatts will you put this across to AM and let him know because tactical wise i dont think he has much of a clue
12:46
Steve Wollaston:  Ok - no more questions on Tactics. Ta.
12:46 [Comment From BlueMachine]
great call Tatts, Pavlyuchenko would be a gem of a buy. Just need a rapid winger then and I think we could be sorted
12:47 [Comment From bluearmyfaction]
What attracted Yeung to Blues in the first place? Chinese community in Brum? Casino possibilities?
12:47 [Comment From whorwe]
from what you have heard and been told by CY & CO do you think the plans to promote blues in china will go well
12:48
Colin Tattum:  Ticket pricing, they will be looking at it. Tactics....yes McLeish could be less cautious and more enterprising, his view is that you need to control the midfield to give you a decent chance of taking points. The key to me, as I've always maintained, is what happens in January. Hopefully players will be of suffificent quality so Blues do become more attack minded and score more goals
12:48 [Comment From Squig]
Pavlyuchenko is a bit out of our league isnt he? or do you think this sort of player is the type we can come to expect at St. Andrews in times to come?
12:48 [Comment From BlueMachine]
tatts nicely dodged all 900 hundred tactics questions!
12:49
Steve Wollaston:  BlueMachine - lol. Tatts never dodges a question. Think we are swamping him a little bit.
12:49
Colin Tattum:  We will ask Carson Yeung that very question. They are not saying they will be as big as Man United in China, but they can become 'China's club'. There are 1.3 billion people over there, they might attract a few who could be interested
12:49 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
I realise you won't post this, but I have to go - thanks for this, this is a great idea.
12:50 [Comment From Horace]
So McLeish's way of "controlling" midfield is to stick 5 unadventurous players in there? Come on Tatts there are many ways to control the midfield.
12:50 [Comment From otto the ledge]
tatts, ill be your typist for the next one. i can do 80- words perr minute and am available on an hourly rate!
12:50
Colin Tattum:  Pavlyuchenko I don't believe would be out of Blues range now. Don't forget that went for him before but relegation put paid to that; thats the kind of player they can reasonably make attempts for.
12:50 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
I don't have a problem with the 451 - the problem is we can't convert it to 433 in attack - which is what it's about. As many have said - we need at least 2 players with pace.
12:50 [Comment From Horace]
Why doesn't McLeish mix his formations. Last week Burnley started 4-5-1 to combat us. A change that worked for them. Why do Blues always sttart the same way?
12:50 [Comment From Kevb8ll]
Or you will!! lol Bye.
12:50 [Comment From Ramster]
a few, i hear my local chinese take away has become a fan of blues now, doesnt mean he's gonna spend a penny on actually supporting them tho
12:50 [Comment From gary]
are they looking at improving st andrews or moving to a new ground, the main stand is a disgrace still
12:51
Colin Tattum:  Horace, yes Blues need more athleticism, pace and invention in midfield. Whatever the formation. He starts that way because he - that's the manager, not me - thinks its the best way for the personnel he has got.
12:51
Colin Tattum:  Looking to improve facilities at St Andrew's, ultimately move to new stadium
12:51 [Comment From olly]
Tatts - How do you feekl about the whole thing now it has happened. Do you feel we will be able to tread water till Jan and attract the right players
12:54
Colin Tattum:  Life moves on. Things change. in 1993 remember the fear and dread about being taken over by a bunch of, ahem, 'adult' industry businessmen? Embrace the new era with caution. Their whole philosophy is that they want to show what they can do, and build the club gradually, not make promises they can't keep. I hope, and believe, Blues will be able to pick up enough points from here to January so they are not totally cast adrift
12:54 [Comment From Horace]
Why are there so many rumours about losing the dressing-room? about upsetting Benitez? No smole without fire - have you seen any flames Tatts?
12:55
Colin Tattum:  No flames no. Benitez was absolutely desperate to sign a contract when he failed his medical. If it's not 'lost the dressing room' it's 'tactically naive'.
12:55 [Comment From Knowle Blues]
Tatts - I wish I could share your optimisum that Big Eck role is secure.. NO manager outside the top 4 is secure.... We have no points from Bolton or Burnley and I cant see us geting anything from the next 5 fixtures (Arse, Sund, ManC, Liv, Ful), That Zero points from potential 21!!! And we would then be 1 month away from the transfer window opening. Think about it.....
12:56 [Comment From Mark Adams]
People are split down the middle on Big Eck...I have big doubts.
12:56 [Comment From JohnR]
I think all these rumours about dressing room unrest are tosh. Read what Queudrue said in the Mail today
12:56 [Comment From Ramster]
Tatts talking of Carson Yeung, whats your favorite chinese take away?
12:56 [Comment From JohnR]
Can't wait until Jerome gets back. Do you think that a Benitez and Jerome partnership will work
12:56
Colin Tattum:  All the time in my dealings with the new people they have stressed that McLeish will be their manager, they will work with him in January, and they have nobody lined up. Now if Blues seven games in a row 7-0 they might have a rethink
12:57 [Comment From Alan t]
Pavlyuchenko and the likes of, wont come if we are stuck in the relegation zone come January, Do you think we have enough to keep us above the pack till then?
12:57 [Comment From Patrick]
i dont want to move
12:57 [Comment From Mark]
Would you please say a big Thank you too David Gold for his efforts
12:57 [Comment From Mark Adams]
I hope they are hell bent on winning a trophy!!
12:57 [Comment From gary]
do you think D Gold leaving is a good or bad thing, he was the last of the "old guard"
12:58 [Comment From Aussy]
If Tats reckons that Big Eck is safe and that the rumours of dressing room unrest are rubbish then thats good enough for me.
12:58 [Comment From Ramster]
Big Eck is going one way or another, we vote with our feet and even with a new regime they arent going to put up with low attendances therefore a manager change is coming, and I believe sooner rather than later
12:58 [Comment From Dom]
Knowle, football always brings suprises. If we don't pick up a single point from the next 5 games i'll eat tatts' keyboard
12:58 [Comment From Squig]
Knowle Blues i bet you £20 we take at least a point from them 5
12:58 [Comment From gary]
what do you think about david gold now leaving? is it good or bad, he is the last of the "old guard"
12:58
Colin Tattum:  I think it was inevitable that David Gold was going to leave at some stage. Things change. Time to move on.
12:58 [Comment From Mystic Nutmegs]
Did Patrick watch the Derren Brown thing & is still stuck to his chair ?
12:58 [Comment From JohnR]
It's not the defence we ned to worry about it's where are the goals going to come from
12:58 [Comment From BlueMachine]
Tatts - so have no transfer names been mentioned by McLeish or his staff since they heard about the takeover?
12:59
Colin Tattum:  That's fine Ramster. All I can pass on to you is what I have been told when I have asked them the question.
12:59 [Comment From SKC1989]
Tatts bit of a late comer today...so i apologize if this question has already been asked of you...I've herd some rumours that CY & co will be investing £25m-£30m in the TW in Jan is this true?
12:59
Colin Tattum:  McLeish and his staff have been compiling a list of candidates for weeks now
1:00
Colin Tattum:  No exact figure is known how much will be available in January. But it won't be the DJ Campbell, Chris Sutton, Martin Latka scenario of 06 I would wager
1:00 [Comment From Alan t]
when you speak to CY does he dodge any questions with spin, or is he honest and straight to the point?
1:01 [Comment From Ramster]
my fear is the team will get flooded with chinese players not up to premiership standard and Carson will want those players to start, therefore he will start interferring with the playing squad
1:02
Colin Tattum:  Carson Yeung will be more of a Randy Lerner style owner. His English isn't great. I have spoken to his associates Sammy Yu and Peter Pannu at length
1:02 [Comment From Ramster]
Tatts, if and i say if the new regime do get sick of big eck, do you think they would be looking to appoint maybe a chinese manager therefore attracting even more fans
1:03 [Comment From Ramster]
IMO we need more than one or two new players, we need a solid Centre Half, Two pacey wingers and a proven striker, all in all cost about £50m, so come on Carson put ur prawn crackers down and start scratching that money together
1:03
Colin Tattum:  As for Chinese players, again, I have asked this and aside from the fact you need work permits, their vision is to develop young Chinese players not sign zillions of them. They would have to be good enough in the first instance, and many are not
1:03 [Comment From blues09]
tatts- what do you make of scott dann? who do you think should start as the two centre backs?
1:03 [Comment From JohnR]
Can we expect to see Benitez back for the Sunderland game
1:03 [Comment From BlueMachine]
If we signed ONE quick winger (e.g. Adam Johnson from Boro) and played him and Fadds on the wings I think our 4-5-1 would work. It would be even better with a flair player in the centre
1:03 [Comment From Ramster]
as it stands Tatts, do you honestly think they will make a difference compared to the old , these are still money men at the end of the day who want to earn a few quid therefore i dont think they will............... ooopssss boss is coming
1:03 [Comment From Ramster]
lets face it; the football recently has been poor i mean we wouldnt even be in the play offs in the CCC at these standards! Big Eck lost the plot when he was told there was no money available to him, and hes not the type of manager to find those hidden gems for 500K-1m
1:03 [Comment From otto the ledge]
Can you promise us as fans something. whenever they ask you for advice - continually shout lower ticket prices! we've been priced out voer the years.
1:04
Colin Tattum:  Time will tell. Early signs and what they have said and plan to do are encouraging, if they follow things through. Nobody can judge yet - they're not even in the building!
1:04
Colin Tattum:  otto, they are well aware of that. I have and they know they need to do something
1:04 [Comment From JohnR]
Ramster FGS give it a rest
1:04 [Comment From Dom]
Tatts who are the main guys we will be hearing from in the press etc.? Will Yeung stay in the background and let Yu and Pannu be in the public eye?
1:04 [Comment From almajir]
@Ramster - I doubt that will happen, have you heard of Work Permit regs?
1:04 [Comment From JohnR]
Steve - can you post my questions about Benitez and Jerome
1:05
Colin Tattum:  Dom, yes. I would like to see Benitez and Jerome paired. Certainly keep defences on their toes
1:05
Steve Wollaston:  JohnR - I'll be honest I'm a bit lost hang on. Hundreds of questions.
1:05 [Comment From BlueGreen]
Are you looking forward to seeing Steve Bruce again in a couple of weeks?
1:05 [Comment From bluearmyfaction]
Dammit, I had totally forgotten about Martin Latka. Bad times.
1:05 [Comment From Knowle Blues]
Dom, Do you take butter or marmalade with a key board? :-)
1:05 [Comment From Dom]
Ramster: Fahey, Ferguson are two that cost £1mill or under
1:05 [Comment From longbridge blue]
Is CY just the face of blues rather than the owner, he is not even a majority shareholder of grandtop is he .
1:05
Colin Tattum:  Steve Bruce has some trepidation about coming back. He is unsure of his reception.
1:06 [Comment From JohnR]
No worries Steve
1:06 [Comment From glosbigblue]
Pannu looks a tough geezer, can't imagine Randy and The General trying to push him around!
1:06 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
eck cant work with a limited amount of funds but other managers can like burnleys manager
1:07
Colin Tattum:  Yeung is the main driver, it's his baby. Kingston have 30 per cent of Grandtop, he has 16 per cent. He does business with Kingston. There are others who are involved and are happy to let Yeung take the limelight. Essentially, he is the power who says what goes. When asked about backing and money etc, Sammy Yu and Peter Pannu have both insisted 'finance is not a problem'.
1:07
Steve Wollaston:  John R - You sure it hasn't gone on? What was it?
1:08
Steve Wollaston:  You are making me work today...
1:08 [Comment From Dom]
it's been answered steve
1:08 [Comment From tilts]
Oh.....Beckham Ronaldinho barmy names but shirt sellers is it likely that they will be looking at players like this?
1:08 [Comment From tilts]
Hi so are you saying that buying players around the villa rate ie; Young, Milner etc etc is more than realistic?
1:08 [Comment From BluSabre]
Brucie will get a good reception surely?
1:08 [Comment From BlueGreen]
Not sure what Brucie's reception will be. The football under him was worse than it is now!
1:08
Colin Tattum:  Peter Pannu is an interesting character. He has bundles of energy and is a bright spark.
1:08 [Comment From Aussy]
When are people going to stop getting wrapped up in this myth that he cant work with 'cheaper' options. We've hardly spent anything in terms of 'net'
1:08 [Comment From Joel]
What do you feel about our next challenge going to the Arsenal in their current form? Will Benitez be back? We will need something to keep them on their toes!
1:09 [Comment From Dom]
Do Pannu and Yu speak good Engrish?
1:09 [Comment From JohnR]
Steve - the question was does tatts think that Benitez and Jerome will be a good patnership
1:09 [Comment From Dom]
English*
1:09
Colin Tattum:  tilts, I believe so. Benitez will be back but shattered from being the other side of the world. Maybe McLeish will go 4-2-4 in that Arsenal game.....
1:10
Colin Tattum:  Yu and Pannu English is excellent. Please check out the blog, there's interesting stuff on there. Pannu is a British citizen, of Indian origin
1:10 [Comment From glosbigblue]
Marquee, shirt selling tyoe of signings. any thoughts?
1:10 [Comment From Paddy ODorz]
So when can we expect to see Beckham pulling the Blues shirt on ?
1:11 [Comment From tilts]
believe so on cash or believe so on becks etc?
1:11 [Comment From JohnR]
Colin 4-2-4 a little jest me thinks to have a go at all the Championship Managers on here
1:12 [Comment From dawsie]
any news on the new MD?? kenyon still a no no? any rumours?
1:12 [Comment From Alan t]
Its been stated that the new guys are football fans and not in it just for the ££, did it come across to you that they have a good knowledge of the EPL?
1:13
Colin Tattum:  Why are people obsessed with Beckham signing for Blues? I don't think they will try to sign such players for the sake of cheap publicity. McManaman will not be the manager either, his role will be confined to international relations PR and player development abroad
1:13
Steve Wollaston:  Cheers for that Paddy, don't post again in a hurry will you.... sorry folks.
1:13
Colin Tattum:  The new people are indeed football nuts as well. They seem to know what's going on in the PL, and the difference between 4-5-1/4-3-3/4-4-2....
1:14 [Comment From Paddy ODorz]
if not Beckham how about Zidane out of retirement ?
1:14 [Comment From millcreeker15]
Do you think they will resolve the KB deal with the box and other add on's
1:14 [Comment From BlueGreen]
What do you think are the most important issues the new owners must address before all others?
1:14 [Comment From tilts]
Didnt say Becks although a good money spinner...I meant players of similar standing that can open the market to us in china
1:14 [Comment From Knowle Blues]
Hope Bruce gets a great response, he gave us stability and promotion on limited funds, big time Charlies, lazy playes he trusted let him down badly.....P.S We all would get peaved off communting to Sunderland every week!
1:15
Colin Tattum:  Not sure if they can resolve the KB pay off, unless in terms of the exec box she takes a sum in lieu of its cost to use
1:15
Colin Tattum:  I don't think there will be 'trophy' signings to try and sell shirts. They have insisted that the manager gets the final say.
1:15 [Comment From maurice]
tatts i have lived in asia for many years ,asians dont talk in circles like us english ask and listen
1:16 [Comment From Dom]
Tatts what does Yeung intend to do with the large Chinese community in Birmingham?
1:16 [Comment From JohnR]
Try again - Benitez and Jerome Tatts ?
1:16 [Comment From glosbigblue]
don't think anyones obsessed with Becks but if CY's business case is predicated on merchandising, we'll need something/someone to sell
1:16
Steve Wollaston:  Tatts - John R's question on your thoughtsabout Jerome and Benitez partnership. Before he blows a gasket.
1:16
Colin Tattum:  Maurice...you mean they ask and listen? That's what these guys have gone so far. Dom...try and involve them...answered Benitez and Jerome already
1:17
Steve Wollaston:  Sorry, yes you have
1:17 [Comment From Joel]
Surely KB will have seen everyone's reaction to the deal. Will she still have the nerve to show her face and risk the abuse?
1:17
Steve Wollaston:  John R - wake up!
1:17
Steve Wollaston:  Laughing
1:17 [Comment From Dom]
play well and win games= more people interested
1:17 [Comment From Dom]
JohnR Tatts has already answered that question.....
1:17 [Comment From dawsie]
New MD??
1:17 [Comment From Steve-O]
I hope Brucey gets a good reception. Gotta go. Thanks for this guys, great way to spend a lunchtime.
1:17
Colin Tattum:  I cant imagine Karren showing up at St Andrew's again, no. She is keeping a low one. Interesting to see what the Sun column says Saturday...
1:17 [Comment From JohnR]
Steve - I've already got steam coming out my ears !!!!
1:18 [Comment From SKC1989]
Tatt's do you know any of the names thought to be on 'eck's list other than Michel?
1:18 [Comment From JohnR]
Sorry if he has I have missed it.
1:19
Colin Tattum:  No, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went for Johnson at Boro, they tried before. Other than that, they are looking at top European strikers
1:19 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
dont know if this has been covered but im a season ticket holder but would love CY to bring the prices down so we could fill st andrews, wot do you reckon tatts
1:19 [Comment From JohnR]
Found the answer at 1.05
1:19 [Comment From glosbigblue]
that's a first - interetsing to see what The Sun says!!! Phrases you'd never thought you'd hear.
1:19 [Comment From Alan t]
Tatts , has anything been said on the main reasons the deal fell through 2 yrs ago?
1:19 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
AM does not have tactical awareness,ok with the scotland job he had a choice between the best in scotland but working with peanuts he cant do it unlike owen coyle
1:19 [Comment From bluearmyfaction]
How come his English isn't great? Wasn't Hong Kong British when he was born? Or is he not from there?
1:19 [Comment From Knowle Blues]
We will not have to get hammered 7-0 to see a change at the helm.. Prem status is paramount to exporting the Blues brand in China.. Things will happen in January, centre forward, creative midfilder, two wide players....The same players we should of brought in the close season.
1:20 [Comment From whorwe]
could you ask next week also if things did take off in china for BCFC brand how much would the club see or would that be grandtop only with grandtop just investing a bit to keep us in the premier league for promotional reasons
1:20 [Comment From Horace]
They're his personnel. What was he thinking of when buying Benitez if the rest of his personnel won't allow him to play to Benitexes strengths?
1:20 [Comment From SKC1989]
any clues on the forwards Tatts?
1:20
Colin Tattum:  I stand to be corrected, but I believe you have to lodge match by match prices with the PL before the season starts, but can apply to change during a season. They will be caught between not wanting to hack off season ticket holders and filling the ground and making it more affordable for others
1:20 [Comment From Dom]
Edin Dzeko would do nicely. I'm sure the board won't mind paying 25million Euros.
1:20 [Comment From tilts]
VAN NISTELROOY LOAN??? HUNTELAAR?? both these players well out the picture... Its a shame he didnt take over 2 years ago because Granero then would have been a snip...He started and scored on Real debut
1:20 [Comment From glosbigblue]
Tatts, any thoughts on players leaving? It seems to me that a few of them have grown stale around the place - Seb Larsson springs to mind
1:21 [Comment From richard lawton]
Hi Colin is Brian Dick on today ?
1:21
Steve Wollaston:  Richard, no, Brian will be back for a rugby chat in a couple of weeks
1:21
Colin Tattum:  Grandtop is a shell company set up for the takeover....Dzeko is one they have been mentioning among themselves, so I believe. But, as you suggest, I think he is too far out of range now
1:21 [Comment From Dom]
Huntelaar signed for Milan in the summer.
1:22 [Comment From Dom]
Tatt's you cannot be serious? Dzeko is being chased by Milan and signed a new contract at Wolfsburg recently (i think). I was only joking :D
1:22
Steve Wollaston:  Dom, you are doing a good job as Tatts' right-hand man here cleaning up the rumours....
1:22 [Comment From dawsie]
Colin I have flu....I need to know who the new MD will be....aaarrgghh!!
1:23
Steve Wollaston:  Just 10 more minutes folks...
1:23 [Comment From whorwe]
i think this season getting fans back through the gates and getting that supporter base back up is more important than upsetting S/T holders they give those a extra discount next season to keep everybody happy
1:23 [Comment From olly]
Dont you thnk we should forget about Jan for a while as we need some points before then in order to survive.
1:23
Colin Tattum:  Dzeko.... they are looking at players of that ilk. They have to. Blues need to progress and that means being competitive to get players who could make a difference
1:23
Colin Tattum:  I don't know who the CEO will be sorry
1:24
Colin Tattum:  They have to plan for January now. Not fiddle about and scratch around in that month.
1:24 [Comment From richard lawton]
What are your feelings on our committment to playing 4-5-1 even at home ?
1:24 [Comment From JohnR]
Do you think Queudrue will replace Dann at Arsenal
1:24 [Comment From SKC1989]
Tatts other than forwards what other position is being looked at?
1:24 [Comment From Alan t]
when the new owners are completely in will they dish the dirt on sully & co, or will the book be closed.
1:24 [Comment From BluSabre]
Trevor Birch *taps nose*
1:24 [Comment From dawsie]
no worries.....I cannot wait for this to start happening...bring on monday, its been a long time coming for blues!!
1:25
Colin Tattum:  Richard, I have done that to death in match reports and other stories. Sometimes its appropriate, sometimes its not. Depends on players as well, who is available and whether the right players are in the right holes, and whether they have enough quality per se
1:25 [Comment From Dom]
Tatts can you give us a couple of names to salivate over?
1:25 [Comment From wibbla]
mornin all,,,,rebirth of the blues!! lets ope this 1s real
1:25 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]
yes im a ST holder but couldnt care less how much CY charged for the fans to come through the turnstiles but maybe to make up to us ST holders next season by doing something
1:26 [Comment From Steve]
Tatts - As a ST Holder I don't care if they slash prices. As was said above, just give this years ST Holders a bit of a price cut next season or a free FA Cup ticket to make up for it!
1:26 [Comment From bluearmyfaction]
Free shirts would do me, meanmachine. :)
1:26
Steve Wollaston:  5 minutes....
1:26
Colin Tattum:  Alant, I don't think that's their way. They will have to explain what happened in 2007 though...meanmachine, Steve, that's a good idea...hopefully they will read this chat!
1:26
Steve Wollaston:  Some great coverage on Blues from Tatts today on www.biringhammail.net
1:27 [Comment From trickytrev]
CY has passed the right and proper test, does the "mystery" money man also have to pass the test?
1:27 [Comment From longbridge blue]
Any plans to spill the beans on those departed or are you going to draw a line under them.
1:27 [Comment From millcreeker15]
They are talking about a new stadium will that be the one the council want by the NEC or will it be the one the old regime wanted but the council turned down?
1:27 [Comment From Boozy_Blue]
Tatts do you know how much the club were asking for Doyle to go on loan? I feel for the bloke as I believe he should be in the top two at the club and has already shown his worth at fizzy pop level
1:27
Colin Tattum:  Only people who have a 10 per cent stake in a club are subject to that scrutiny, and they will have to disclose their names if that is the case
1:27 [Comment From SKC1989]
What other position is being looked at Tatt's? or is it just up front?
1:27 [Comment From Alan t]
tatts keep up the good work, we can always depend on you for honest info, you should update your Bloggs more often, always a good read, ...Long live CT.....KRO.
1:27
Colin Tattum:  The Saltley project I assume
1:28 [Comment From whorwe]
oh great my idea and steve gets the credit thanks tatts story of my life lol
1:28
Colin Tattum:  sorry, whorwe, this thing is scrolling up too fast! fortune cookie in the post
1:28 [Comment From Steve]
Bye bye barrow boys - lets move forward to a new beginning!
1:28 [Comment From bluearmyfaction]
trickytrev, it's not a hard test. "Are you fit and proper?" "Yes." "OK."
1:29 [Comment From Steve]
whorwe lol - It's The Missionary to you!
1:29
Colin Tattum:  I think the PL would love a club owned by Chinese....great way in to that market isn't it?
1:29 [Comment From SKC1989]
Tatt's any other potisions being looked at other than up front?
1:29 [Comment From Dom]
Tatts gives us a couple of names to salivate over please?
1:30
Steve Wollaston:  Dom - I can put a picture up of Roger Jonson's wife... will that do?
1:30 [Comment From Steve]
Spit the Dog
1:30
Colin Tattum:  wide left, central mid (attacking type player), then who knows? depends on who is available...Dom, don't have any names. but if you read between some lines at the type of players they could be going for, you could probably come up with some yourself (not David Beckham though)
1:30 [Comment From Dom]
I saw him on the Cov Rd on wednesday actually. Nice Bentley GTC :)
1:30 [Comment From glosbigblue]
what's your gut feel in terms of spening power - I'm assuming we'll not compete with Citeh but will we be competing with the likes of Villa, Spurs, Sunderland in terms of transfer fees and wages?
1:30 [Comment From trickytrev]
just thought it might smoke out who else is in the background at the moment!
1:30 [Comment From Alan t]
just a couple of initials then tatta, to wet our appetite.
1:31 [Comment From whorwe]
at the end of the day i think we need to get back to birmingham city being the main priority and not the previous owners who to me took most of the limelight away from blues and more was about them .
1:31
Colin Tattum:  I believe that Blues will be competing more with the Sunderlands and Fulhams and hopefully Villas and Spurs. They won't go mad and will say they are not a Man City next week
1:32
Steve Wollaston:  Has anyone got a burning issue that they don't feel we have covered?
I will pick two final questions...
1:32
Colin Tattum:  Alant I don't know!
1:32 [Comment From NeilM]
Alan t - what about LM
1:32 [Comment From NeilM]
Lamb Madras ;-)
1:32 [Comment From olly]
If you have a burning issue visit a doctor!!
1:32
Colin Tattum:  I knew this would happen...Undecided
1:32 [Comment From JohnR]
Prediction for the Arsenal amtch
1:32 [Comment From whorwe]
do you get the feeling the new owners are in it for the long term or like a lot of yeung previous ventures short term gains
1:33
Colin Tattum:  Difficult
1:33
Steve Wollaston:  Ok that's the two.... Time Gentleman please...
1:33
Colin Tattum:  They new regime have said this is a 'life project'. I asked them how long would they stick at it. They seem genuine to me I have to say
1:33 [Comment From SKC1989]
Tatt's will they be making some sort of speech or anything at the sunderland game? as a hello
1:33
Steve Wollaston:  ok that's the last one - good question..
1:34 [Comment From JohnR]
Thanks Tatts and Steve. It's good to chat

1:34
Steve Wollaston:  Laughing
1:34 [Comment From MEANMACHINE]

1:34
Colin Tattum:  I would imagine they will do a wave, not sure they will go in for big speeches on the pitch and laps of honour. Not the Chinese way.
1:35
