Meanwhile, Carson Yeung is changing the name of Grandtop International Holdings to reflect the firm’s ownership of Blues.

Yeung, the driving force of the investment, entertainment and sportswear business that was used to buy Blues, wants it to be known as Birmingham International Holdings.

In an announcement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, he explained: “In order to better reflect and benefit the company’s future development, the board considers that the change of company name is in the interests of the company and its shareholders as a whole.”

An EGM of Grandtop will be held to vote on a special resolution concerning the name change.

Yeung, meanwhile, has been appointed chairman of Birmingham City plc, replacing David Sullivan.

Vico Hui has been made an executive director of the plc.

The alterations needed to be carried out as Yeung has yet to enforce a compulsory purchase of all Blues shares, which would allow the club to be de-listed and then move into private ownership.
