Birmingham City boss has no issues with Sammy Yu's tracksuit request
Sammy Yu.
So will he? McLeish laughed and insisted not.
“I believe he has got some coaching badges, although I’m not sure which ones,” he said.
“He has got some experience. I will listen. We will chat and then I will decide [on football matters].
“We will lock horns and do it for the benefit of the football club.
“Sometimes I might not agree with some things but then other times I’m sure that Sammy will bring a lot to us.”
Not many clubs have a boardroom figure at their training ground. Albion chairman Jeremy Peace, however, has his office next to the Baggies manager.
“I don’t foresee any real problems,” said McLeish. “I’m sure that other football clubs have people of that ilk at the training ground.
“We need administrators up here as well, that’s something our training ground as lacked, someone who can manage the training ground, and Sammy can do that job.”
“There’s not been a suggestion that they would do that, appoint a director of football,” added McLeish. “I think Sammy probably is kind of verging on that title.”
