ALEX McLeish said the Q word was all important to Blues’ recruitment drive in January.
Armed with Carson Yeung’s millions, McLeish has a simple rule of thumb for any new player.
“Quality, without doubt, that’s the word,” said the Blues boss.
“Don’t get me wrong. We are maybe looking at players who are not household names at the minute, but with great potential.

“It would be good to make a bold statement and bring in a big name, but we have also got to be mindful just how far we go with a big name.
“Then it’s maybe astronomical wages, the transfer fee could be exorbitant. If you’re talking about £20 million you could do that on one player these days. That would get you Ronaldo’s right arm, wouldn’t it?
“But, undoubtedly, we have to purchase quality.”
McLeish, his coaches and scouting staff have sat down with vice-chairman football Sammy Yu to talk about targets.
