Why I know Birmingham City are in safe hands by Ralph Gold

RALPH Gold has insisted Blues new owners, led by Carson Yeung, had been left with a perfect launchpad for success.

Gold sold his 12.5 per cent shareholding to Yeung’s Grandtop International Holdings for £10.2 million. And he said the Chinese should lift Blues to new heights.

“We did a remarkable deal, one which we couldn’t refuse,” Gold said. “But that doesn’t affect the club; the club will be strong because of it. The new owners have had to invest, but we invested. We invested big time.

“They have had to invest to get on that ledge, to now move on they have to further invest in the club.

“From all that we have discovered, they are a powerful group and the people of China will enthusiastically back Birmingham City.”
