BLUES today stressed that their January transfer window plans remain unaltered.
David Sullivan hit out at Carson Yeung yesterday, suggesting that the determination of the new regime to go through the club’s finances in forensic detail could be a smokescreen.
It has emerged that Yeung and his group were left with £6 million of bills for transfers, agents fees, bonuses and taxes after completing their £81.5 million takeover.
And that figure could spiral to £11 million by the end of December.
Sullivan said it was nothing unusual – ‘normal business practice’ – and suspected the fact the information had come to light could be a pre-emptive tactic in regard to the promised transfer kitty.
“Maybe they don’t want to spend the £40 million, and it’s part of the excuse,” wondered Sullivan.
