New Birmingham City reserves coach Malcolm Thomson off to a flyer

BLUES gave new reserve team coach Malcolm Thomson a winning start by coming from behind at Griffin Park last night.

Jay O’Shea and Jake Jervis netted to cancel out Fabio Borini’s 16th-minute goal.

Franck Queudrue captained the Blues side and there were full run-outs for Keith Fahey and Gary McSheffrey.

O’Shea levelled the scores on 32 minutes after Robin Shroot laid the ball into his path.

He darted forward and drilled home from 12 yards. Blues clinched their first league victory of the season when Jervis robbed Ben Gordon 40 yards out and tore on before finishing with a calm sidefooter.

BLUES: Doyle, Preston, Wilson, Fahey, Espinoza, Queudrue, O’Shea, Mutch (Sammons 78), Jervis, Shroot, McSheffrey.

Not used: Jacob Rowe, Butland, Asante, Bogle.
