Birmingham City: Garry O'Connor has surgery on hip and groin problem

BLUES striker Garry O’Connor has undergone surgery to cure a troublesome hip and groin problem.

And midfielder Teemu Tainio is also going under the knife, Alex McLeish revealed.

“Big Garry’s going to be out for a wee while. The surgeon said he didn’t know how he had been managing to play on through it.

“Teemu is going to get operated on as well, with his knee.

“We could be doing without that because, as we know from the futile attempts, we tried to bring in Michel.

“It ended up that I had to go scrambling about for a loan because I needed another body in there. And now he’s lost to us, another one down.”
