“Well, I have got a lot of experience, so I have to impart that to the players,” said the boss.

“Andy Watson, Roy Aitken, Dave Watson likewise.

“We have been through all the emotions of a team that has to win every week and they must be relentless.

“That’s the mentality I’m trying to put into the players.

“Maybe some of them are working towards mentalities like that, but I can certainly see that characteristic in my dressing room.”

McLeish also said Blues needed to take a step back on occasions.

“We play as a team. Sometimes we maybe try too hard, and over-cook things a little bit.

“That’s when we’ve got to count to ten and say, ‘wait a minute, let’s remember what got us here’ and get our sleeves rolled up and work as a team.

“Remember the togetherness that has brought us this far.”
