ALEX McLeish today revealed Birmingham City were likely to ‘revisit’ the transfer of Roman Pavlyuchenko during the summer window.
Although Blues failed in their recent attempts to land the Spurs striker, he would be of interest again if he remained up for grabs.
Spartak Moscow are still in the hunt for the Russian international, for whom Blues had a £10 million bid rejected by the White Hart Lane club in the days leading up to the January deadline.
Peter Pannu, Blues’ acting chairman and vice-chairman executive and finance, accused Spurs of messing Blues around by hoisting the price up to £15 million after they had put in writing an offer they were originally told was fine.
“We went for Pavlyuchenko, as most people know, and his wages weren’t outrageous,” said McLeish.
“He’s a top player. He would have enhanced the squad and been great cover for Christian Benitez and Cameron Jerome!
“No, he would have come in and really upped the ante in terms of the competition for strikers but it wasn’t to be and maybe we will revisit it.”
McLeish also admitted Blues remained on Kris Boyd’s trail after a late inquiry to Rangers to see if there was any change on his future.
