Birmingham City fans discuss 'realistic' transfer targets

Roman Pavlyuchenko

The transfer window is still warm in its grave yet Birmingham City fans are already throwing plenty of names around that they want to see at the club in the summer.

Forum user MillCreeker asked for opinions on realistic suggestions for new additions, here's a selection of the responses...

Hoovehand: I would be ecstatic if we managed to sign Chucho and Hart. Then my other favourites are:

1. McGeady
2. Janko
3. Clyne

Shady: Signing Joe Hart permanently MUST be top of the agenda.
I dont care if it takes £20 million to get him
Others i'd like to see (any or all)

Michael Johnson (man city £3 million?)
Matt Derbyshire (Olympiakos £7-8 million?)
Pavlyuchenko (Spurs £11-13 million?)
Konchesky (Fulham £2-3 million?)
Yossi Benayoun (Liverpool £6-8 million?)

Mallet: McGeady - Celtic are losing money so would like to sell. Pavlyuchenko - Spurs want to offload him in the summer. Babel - Liverpool might let him go in the summer

Plattypus1952: As I keep saying until I see anyone holding a Blues shirt with a silly grin I will take anything I read come the Summer Transfer Window with the perverbal " Pinch of Salt".

Regardless of all the excuses reason's why we did not buy a striker/s in January perhap's when this season is over and we see exactly were we finish in the League we may be able to attract some quality signing's.

I refuse to say I would like either or a combination of:

Pavlywhatshisname
McGeady
Babel
Boyd
Janko

Jazzy786: I'd like Kris Commons of Derby. He was class and would cost about £1m.

Tilton1875: I gather from reports highest on the agenda:

McGeady £7m-£10m
Boyd FREE
Konchesky FREE
Pavulychenko £9m (Harry was never going to let him go and KEANE and give himself literally half a day for buying)
Hart LOAN if necessary.

Personally with Hart I would offer them £5m for him and once he is on a 5 year deal let Man City have an option to buy him back for £7m+ after 4 years. At least this way if they still want him back then they will get him far more experienced. It's likely he could end up being under study to Given for a good few years yet. Who knows maybe Mancini will buy Buffon and that will make a purchase more likely. If city do buy him back on that option we stand to lose practically nothing but gain a absolutely talented keeper for a key period in our clubs development in an attempt to become a steady premier club or even on the fringes of europe.

Other players could come into consideration but it's hard to second guess the players he has not mentioned publically.

Personally new contracts for Johnson and Dann.

Boozy_Blue:  I wouldn't like speculate but this will be the 2nd window where Eck can truly buy the players he wants plus there are going to be some major going outs in the summer as well

With this in mind a lot of good quality players will be coming in to reshape the squad

Trophy signings I think bids for Boyd, McGeady, Pav and Babel will happen again outside of this I've no idea on Ecks thinking

I'd like to see 2 new full backs in for Hutton or Hunt would fit the bill for Right back and I'd like to see a bid for Bale at left back

Also 2 new wide men, Pennant for the right with McGeady for the left mid.

Bluesuedeshoes: I think we all know that Eck sets his sights on somebody and then pursues them until either he bores the host club to death or they give in just to get him off the phone  the players I think we might be after are the following:

Belhadj
N'zogbia
Boyd
McGeady
Pavlyuchencko
Mears
Konchesky
Hart
Babel

I don't think we'll get half of them, but he needs clearly to get some bodies through the door and quick with the amount of departure we're going to have. If we think our squad is small now wait until you see it in June!!! KRO.
