Lee Bowyer thinks life's a pitch for Birmingham City

Lee Bowyer

LEE Bowyer believes home, sweet home should make a difference for Blues as they strive to recover from the Manchester City battering.

The Eastlands pitch did not suit Blues’ style, says the midfielder, but the more compact St Andrew’s surroundings would.

Plus Saturday’s opponents Hull City do not possess the same sort of firepower Champions League-chasing Manchester boast.

“You have to learn from a result like we had, especially the boys at the back, the two centre-halves,” said Bowyer.

“That’s the first time they’ve tasted something like that this season.

‘‘They should come back bigger and stronger and put in a better performance, as should all the lads. No-one likes to lose, especially by that amount of goals.

“We will be at home, it will be a different game this weekend.

“The Man City pitch is absolutely massive and you are playing against people who stay on the lines, so they make the pitch even bigger.

“You’ve got the two wingers with pace and trickery and Adebayor and Tevez. They’re a very attacking side and it was hard for us, we just couldn’t cope.

“They way we play, we are a very hard-working side.

“It’s been hard for us physically this season because we haven’t changed the side much.
