Birmingham City: Marcus Bent bangs in four goals but still faces bleak future at Blues

MARCUS Bent has fired another reminder of his abilities.
But it’s unlikely to earn him a Blues reprieve.
Bent scored four times in Blues’ reserves 5-0 win over a young Southampton side at Wast Hills yesterday.
However, Bent has not figured in a Blues 18 since October 2009 at Arsenal – Carson Yeung’s first match as owner.
He remains up for transfer and although he has been linked with Blackpool and was loaned out last season, he remains on the St Andrew’s periphery.
“He looked very lively and sharp,” said Alex McLeish.
“And that’s now six goals in two pre-season outings, as he got two against Harrow Borough.”
McLeish would like to move Bent out to ease the wage bill. He has a year left on his contract, with a year’s option.
