Birmingham City: We are well equipped - Barry Ferguson

BARRY Ferguson today insisted Blues are well equipped for whatever comes their way this season.
And the midfield lynchpin said Alex McLeish was right to make sure his new recruits before the transfer deadline were of the right character as well as quality.
Blues’ success since promotion from the Championship has been underpinned by a strong dressing-room bond, the best Ferguson has ever known.
Blues face Liverpool at St Andrew’s on Sunday, a contrast from their last two opponents Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers.
“Bolton and Blackburn play a certain style of football,’’ said Ferguson.
‘‘They have big lads up front, big lads throughout the team.
“But I think we’ve coped with that really well in both of the games.
“It will be a bit of a different test when we come up against the team who like to get the ball down.
“But I’m confident we can cope with anybody just now.
“We’re undefeated and we’re happy we’ve taken five points, but at the same time disappointed as it could have been more.”
Aleksandr Hleb, Jean Beausejour and Martin Jiranek will be in the squad for the first time this weekend after their moves were completed on deadline day.
McLeish acted swiftly after deciding to scrap a club record £9 million transfer of Charles N’Zogbia once he ‘moved the goalposts’ and asked for a bigger salary than originally agreed.
