Birmingham City: Liam Ridgewell reveals why the Premier League is so tight

PREMIER League teams are swatting up on their opponents which is why the division is so tight this year, according to Liam Ridgewell.
Unusual results have occurred in the top flight this season, and just nine points separate 18th position and sixth spot after 15 games.
With that in mind some teams are casting an eye over a potential European spot rather than looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone.
Newly-promoted Blackpool, Albion and Newcastle have recorded unthinkable results so far this season.
The Seasiders won at Anfield, while the Baggies and the Magpies pulled off incredible away victories against Arsenal.
Blues have also been among the teams to inflict shock results after a famous win over champions Chelsea at St Andrew’s last month.
Tomorrow they return to league action against Tottenham after Wednesday’s epic 2-1 victory over neighbours Villa.
And Ridgewell, who will line up at left-back, is hoping for another positive result as Blues entertain the Champions League contenders.
“It’s been a funny old Premier League to be fair,” the 26-year-old said. “Teams that have expected to win are losing, so it keeps it interesting.
