Birmingham City defender Stephen Carr 'loved' playing under Mick McCarthy

STEPHEN Carr says tomorrow’s game against Wolves is ‘‘massive’’ as Blues aim to drag themselves further away from the relegation zone.

The Irishman will again have his work cut out as he faces the tricky task of handling Matt Jarvis – a week after keeping Welsh wing wizard Gareth Bale quiet.
Jarvis has been inspirational for Wolves this season but Carr knows that if Blues are to avoid slipping into the drop zone, they need to beat the teams around them.
And there is no better way to start than by seeing off Wolves, who are on the same number as points as basement boys West Ham.
“It’s a massive game for sure,” the 34-year-old said.
“We’ll be going there hoping to get three points.
“It’s a big big game and the teams around us that we’re playing against are massive games.”
During his time at Tottenham and Newcastle, Carr earned himself 44 Republic of Ireland caps.
Some of his appearances for the national side came when Mick McCarthy, now manager of Wolves, was in charge.
