Jordon Mutch commits future to Birmingham City

JORDON Mutch’s future has been secured by Blues with the signing of a new contract.

The midfelder has penned a new deal that runs until the summer of 2014.

Mutch, 19, was due to be out of contract in the summer and several Premier League clubs had been monitoring the situation.

But the one-time second youngest debutant in club history insisted he never wanted away.

Negotiations were protracted due to issues surrounding the length of contract.

And Mutch wanted to be sure that he would be considered next season as an established first-team squad member.

He said: “I think this is the right place for me at the moment.

“The team are doing well, we’ve got a good manager and the board have invested in new players, so I think it’s the right place for me.

“Birmingham has become a home to me. I’ve enjoyed every bit of my time at the club and I just want to keep on improving.

“Hopefully the next three years will be a good three years for me.”

Alex McLeish kept Mutch in the fold after a successful spell on loan to Watford.
