Jordon Mutch on establishing himself for keeps at Birmingham City

JORDON Mutch refuses to believe he is now an integral part of Alex McLeish’s Blues side.

But the teenage midfielder says that as long as he’s involved this season, he will be giving his all.

Mutch completed back-to-back senior games for the first time in his Blues career by appearing at Everton and against Bolton Wanderers.

His mature and assured performances in the engine room of the team belied the fact he has only just turned 19.

Injuries gave him the opportunity and McLeish has said he had no qualms about Mutch and that he could ‘trust’ him.

With Lee Bowyer unlikely to get a new contract – although McLeish said no doors had been closed – and Michel at AEK Athens on loan, Mutch could establish himself as a squad regular next season.

“I’m not looking that far

ahead. I don’t know whether I will remain involved this season, I just take things from one week to the next,” Mutch told the Birmingham Mail.

“All I can do is keep on working hard and when the manager plays me try to do what I need to do for the team.

“We will see how things go. I’m happy at the moment. I’ve played two games on the bounce, which is good for me, and I just hope I can make an impression, keep on playing and learn from the experience I’m getting.”
