KEVIN Phillips has admitted that he would not rush into making a decision on his future.

The veteran striker’s contract is up this summer and he revealed he would consider all options available.

Phillips said he was absolutely sure he could still cut it in the Premier League.

But he would want more game-time than he has been afforded this campaign at Blues.

Phillips, who turns 38 in July, said: “I will play on, definitely. For another year.

“Whether it’s here at the Blues, who knows? Last year I had already had it in my mind that I wanted to resign for Blues at this same stage.

“But if you put me on the spot now, I’m going to just see what happens in the summer.

“I’m not going to rush anything. If the club do offer me a new deal, great, I will look at it.

“If they don’t, then I’m sure I’m not going to be short of a few offers.

“Of course I’m like anyone, I want to play. I know I’m not going to play week in, week out.

“But all I want to do now to the end of the season is show I can still do it and I think I proved that last weekend.

“Wherever I am next year, yes, I obviously want to play a bit more than I have done this season.”

Phillips, who netted on his first Premier League start of the campaign against Bolton Wanderers, has made eight substitute appearances for Blues. Alex McLeish admitted that he should have used Phillips more in the opening half of the season.
