CARSON Yeung was left ‘devastated’ by Blues’ relegation from the Premier League.
But by announcing that Alex McLeish would remain in charge despite the drop, it was the first building block in place for next season’s Championship campaign.
Peter Pannu said that after long conversations with the Hong Kong tycoon after Blues’ loss at Spurs it was decided to stand by Big Eck.
Pannu and the manager meet tomorrow for talks on various issues, when it will be reiterated to McLeish that Yeung and the board expect nothing but promotion in 2011-12.
“Carson was absolutely devastated on Sunday,” said Pannu, Blues’ acting chairman. “He was not happy, as you can imagine.
“But a decision was made to retain Alex and I will be meeting him to discuss what we must do for next season.
“Obviously the intention is to win promotion straight away and supporters can be assured that we will do everything in our power to achieve that.”
On behalf of Yeung, Pannu plans to delve into every aspect of Blues’ failed Premier League campaign, on and off the field, to ascertain whether any significant changes need to be made.
