DAVID Murphy today admitted that Blues would be delighted once the transfer window has closed.
And the left-back said it was a must for Chris Hughton to strengthen the squad rather than simply wave goodbye to more players.
The main interest surrounds Scott Dann, Nikola Zigic and Cameron Jerome, three players the club are willing to sell.
Liverpool and Arsenal have others in their pecking order before Dann and QPR are now on the scene.
But there could be a knock-on effect if Phil Jagielka or Gary Cahill move to any of the big guns.
Spanish clubs Real Betis and Espanyol are among those in negotiations for Zigic.
And Fulham, Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City are back in for Jerome.
Hughton is keen to add at least two more players, all depending on who goes and for how much.
Coventry City’s Ben Turner and Lukas Jutkiewicz are among those of interest as is Nile Ranger, of Newcastle United.
Cardiff City have tried to get Turner, a massive Blues fan, for £750,000 plus Jon Parkin.
“Once the window shuts we know what we’ve got then,” said Murphy.
“Obviously we can still make loan signings afterwards.
“But we then know that the players here will remain at least until the New Year. I think that will be a plus point for us.

“We do need to add to the squad. We are thin on the ground. I am sure the manager is working hard on that.
“We have got a good group of boys here. We are all pulling in the same direction, which is the most important thing.
“If we can add a couple more players for that, we will be all the better for it.”
Murphy was one of Blues’ good performers in the 2-2 draw at Watford.
He admitted it ‘felt like a defeat’ because of Martin Taylor’s stoppage-time equaliser.
