BOAZ Myhill reckons Chris Hughton’s footballing philosophies are starting to take shape at St Andrew’s.
The Blues boss has been at the club for just under four months and has had little spare time to experiment with his team.
However, a rare two-week break from action for internatioinals has given Hughton time to test out a few new things in training ahead of today’s clash with Leicester.
Some key players were missing with their respective countries but a large proportion of the squad took part and Myhill says Hughton is starting to lay down his own mark.
“The manager is very keen that we pass the ball,” he said. “Quite a few of the fans that I’ve spoken to are happy with the way the game is being played at St Andrew’s this season.
‘‘That’s all down to the manager. Outside of that, he’s a bright, bubbly character, and a good coach. Everything we do is done through. His is the only voice, which can sometimes be better.
“A lot of the time now in modern football there’s managers who take a bit of a back seat until Saturday, but at least with him you know exactly what he wants.
“There are no mixed messages.”
Myhill’s role remains constant, of course – he’s there to simply shut out goals.
In the last outing he had very little to do and praised his teammates for fighting back to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1.
Overall, Myhill has been encouraged by Blues’ recent play and hopes it is the start of a successful run.
“As a goalkeeper you want to go out onto the pitch each week and not let a goal in,” he added.
“But as long as the team is picking up results and as long as the team is going in the right direction up the table you have to accept the way things are and do your best to be a part of that.
“The biggest thing last time out was how strong we looked towards the end of the game. Fitness-wise especially.
“I think that was maybe the difference between the two sides – that we finished the game so strongly.
“It was credit to the lads especially on the back of the tough run of fixtures we’d had.
