CLUB Brugge have insisted that they won’t underestimate Blues tonight.
But coach Adrie Koster’s side have targeted another win to make it nine points from nine in order to take a stranglehold on Group H.
“Although Birmingham are playing in the second league, that doesn’t mean they aren’t a good team,” Koster said.
“They are capable of playing good football, they are physically very strong and what we have to do is seek the combinations, get the best out of the duels.
“We all know they were relegated, but they are still a team with quality in it.”
“We have the chance to make it nine points from a possible nine so far so that’s a big motivation for us,” added Koster. “We’re going to fight for that, it’s our goal.
“We mustn’t underestimate Birmingham though.
“A win would give them six points, so the game is not so much a crucial one for us both, but certainly very important and key for Birmingham.”
With 5,450 away fans expected in the stadium, Blues will have a boisterous backing.
Koster was asked at last night’s pre-match media conference did he ‘fear’ the effect the Blues supporters could have.
“No,” he responded. “We like an atmosphere here. We know they have a fanatical support and public. But we always like to hear something in the stadium.”
Bruges are set to move Norway international Tom Hogli to right-back in Carl Hoefkens absence due to injury.
Talented winger Victor Vazquez, a summer signing from Barcelona, won’t play (ribs).
Stephen Carr (knee) was a late withdrawal for Blues yesterday before their departed from Birmingham Aiport.
