CHRIS Hughton is set to be reunited with his right-hand man Colin Calderwood today.

A deal has been agreed for Calderwood to become assistant manager, a position which has been held open since the summer.

Hughton targeted Calderwood after replacing Alex McLeish in the St Andrew’s hot seat but he could not be prised from Hibernian.

Hughton appointed Paul Trollope as first-team coach and, at the time, made it clear he envisaged bringing in an assistant as well.

He has had to wait. After Calderwood was sacked as Hibernian manager at the beginning of the month, the wheels were put in motion to finally get the former Swindon, Spurs and Villa defender to Blues.

Calderwood had to arrange financial details of his severance with the Easter Road club first.

But such matters have been sorted and Calderwood watched Blues defeat Burnley on Tuesday from the directors’ box in the Garrison Lane stand.
