The only way is up for Birmingham City' Chris Burke

Blues' Chris Burke celebrates his goal against Forest with Marlon King and David Murphy

CHRIS Burke has insisted that the way Blues are playing, there is only one way they can go – upwards.

The winger slammed home a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Burnley on Tuesday night to edge Blues ever closer to the Championship play-off zone.

It was just reward for Blues’ general play, said the Scottish star.

And although Blues have made hard work of it in terms of converting their chances in recent matches, that was not a majorly concerning issue for Burke.

“Hopefully we will give someone a hiding,” said Burke, who has now scored six times this campaign.

“We were just happy with the three points on Tuesday.

“The encouraging sign is that if we play like that week in, week out, we will win games more often than not,” he said.

“At this moment in time it doesn’t seem to be happening for us (goal wise).

“We seem to be dominating games for the 90 minutes but just not finishing teams off like we should.

“But we are playing good football and we’re enjoying it. And everybody, it’s fair to say, would agree with that who comes to watch.

“It’s exciting the way we attack and pass the ball about with authority and the way we’re dominating games and dictating play. That’s excellent to see.”

Blues visit Blackpool tomorrow, who are a point and one place above them in the league, in seventh.

Burke suffered play-off misery at former club Cardiff City and is keeping fingers crossed that the same fate doesn’t befall him at Blues.
