CHRIS Hughton has insisted that Blues won’t attempt to park the bus tomorrow.
Avoiding defeat to SC Braga in their penultimate Europa League group game is the minimum requirement for Blues hopes of qualifying for the knock-out phase.
But that doesn’t mean a negative approach in Portugal (6pm kick-off).
Hughton said: “I don’t think you can go for a draw.
“That type of mentality, if you fall behind then it becomes difficult to pick up your game again.
“That doesn’t mean approaching the last ten or 15 minutes, if the game is going a certain way, you don’t settle for a draw.
“I think that’s normal in football, but you have to set your stall out to be a little bit of a threat and if you are there’s a chance you can score goals and that will always be the nature of the game.
“It’s tougher because it’s away from home and we know what a threat they’ve got, and we’ve got to try as much as we can to nullify their threat.”
Hughton set Blues up 4-4-2 at Club Brugge but adopted a 4-4-1-1 at NK Maribor, which could be a temptation again.
Braga lost at Porto on Sunday (they were 3-0 down before scoring twice in the last two minutes) and were knocked out of the Portuguese Cup by Sporting Lisbon the game before, turning in another disappointing performance.
So although they are unbeaten at home, their form of late has been patchy.
Would they be wary of Blues and what they have done in the competition since the meeting at St Andrew’s in September?
