JONATHAN Spector doesn’t care for praise and plaudits – just victories.
The American international has done a sound, unsung job for Blues since joining from West Ham United in the summer.
Whether in central midfield – where his tremendous athleticism and energy comes to the fore – or at right-back in the Europa League, Spector has been effective yet unheralded.
Not that he’s bothered. He said: “What it’s all about is winning really. Whatever fashion it is. I’ve played a number of roles, here at Birmingham and throughout my career.
“Wherever I am asked to play I will do so. I’m fortunate here in that the majority of time I’ve been able to play in a role I’ve enjoyed – central midfield – and hopefully it will continue.
“But if I’m asked to play anywhere else, and in a number of the European games I’ve been asked to play right-back, I will.
