FOR Blues to stay on an upward curve and not fall by the wayside in the Championship’s great scramble for promotion, it’s clear what has to be done.
St Andrew’s has to remain the fortress it currently is. Blues boast the division’s only unbeaten home record and across all of Britain just Manchester City and Swansea City have conceded fewer goals on their own turf.
On the road, it’s a different story – seven defeats and too many games that have slipped through their fingers, despite plenty of dominant periods and chances.
An odd mistake here, a lapse of concentration there – the difference between success and failure has been small away from home.
But, generally, Blues have to be more ruthless and find from within a pitiless, clinical edge.
And, if Chris Hughton had the scope in an ideal world, an addition for the top end with pace, power and mobility to go in behind, a Cameron Jerome type, would provide Blues with a boost.
