Chris Hughton and Birmingham City's FA Cup mission against Wolverhampton Wanderers

CHRIS Hughton believes tomorrow’s FA Cup clash against Wolves is not about revenge.

The Blues boss reckons there will be spice enough in the third-round tie as it is.

Wolves avoided Premier League relegation on that dramatic final day of the campaign last May, with Blues falling through the trapdoor instead.

Until Stephen Hunt scored in the 87th minute against Blackburn Rovers to make it 2-3, Blues were safe on goal difference.

They were tied at 1-1 with Spurs at White Hart Lane.

When news came through from Molineux Blues had to throw caution to the wind and Spurs scored another goal on the break in stoppage-time.

Blues’ heartbreak was compounded on reflection by the 1-1 draw against Wolves at St Andrew’s three games before the season’s amazing climax.

Two minutes after Sebastian Larsson equalised, Craig Gardner was controversially sent-off in the 29th minute for a second bookable offence.

That was the only point Blues took in the final six matches.

The personnel at St Andrew’s – in the dugout and the squad – has changed significantly since and Roger Johnson headed across to the Black Country.

But there are still Blues players with painful memories. As many as nine who figured at White Hart Lane, or were in Alex McLeish’s group, could be involved tomorrow.
