Birmingham City: Guirane N'Daw to make the difference, says Curtis Davies

Guirane N'Daw

CURTIS Davies has tipped Blues’ ‘G-Man’ – Guirane N’Daw – to make a big difference to their promotion aspirations.

And Although Blues have to do without the powerhouse midfielder for possibly up to a month now because of African Nations Cup commitments, the side won’t necessarily suffer, said Davies.

Blues have Jordon Mutch back in the fold after a broken ankle and Morgaro Gomis has been itching for involvement, too.

N’Daw signed off before joining Senegal’s cup squad with a man-of-the-match performance against Wolves in the FA Cup stalemate.

A day earlier, his loan from Saint-Etienne was extended to the campaign’s end.

“We are now going to lose G-Man to the African Nations but it’s good to have him stay on board until the end of the season and hopefully with performances like that he can come back strong and push us on up the table,” said Davies.

“Extending his loan is a boost because of the form he’s hit now.

“When we signed him he was a little bit in between because he wasn’t fit and then he was coming on in games and he just couldn’t find himself. But the fact he’s fit now he’s been able to show why he’s an international footballer and he’s done really well for us lately.”

Keith Fahey now requires another central midfielder partner and adding to the options of Mutch and Gomis are Jonathan Spector – who held the spot in the main before deputising for the injured Stephen Carr at right-back – and Wade Elliott can play anywhere across the middle.

“Having Jordon back is massive as well because at the beginning of the season he was our main man, if I’m honest,” said Davies.

“He’s a very good footballer and he was the one that was getting us to tick and it’s just unfortunate he got an innocuous injury in training.

“But the fact is now he’s going to push everyone for their places because he’s one of them chomping at the bit to get a start.
