BIRMINGHAM City are on course for a 58-game season – minimum.
But the amount of matches does not unduly bother Chris Hughton and his players.
Blues don’t have the biggest squad around.
But it is managed well and every player has bought into their project this season.
Hughton has rotated in the Europa League and the cups.
And the results have generally kept on coming.
Wednesday’s FA Cup victory at Wolves was their 36th fixture of the campaign.
Blues had 10 matches in Europe, and went agonisingly close to qualifying for the knockout stage of the competition too.
Their reign as Carling Cup holders came to an end at Manchester City in the third round, where they entered the mix.
They have 21 Championship games to go, and potentially another three on top of that if they make the play-offs.
There’s an FA Cup fourth round tie at Sheffield United now, and don’t be surprised if Blues go further in the competition.
In each of the last two seasons they were quarter-finalists.
Molineux goalscorer Wade Elliott commented: “I’ve said before you always maintain the more games we are playing means we are having some success. As far as we are concerned, the more the better.
