Birmingham City: Colin Tattum looks at Chris Hughton's loan options

PREMIER League clubs have done their window shopping.

But for managers in the Championship like Chris Hughton, there is still scope to bring players in.

Hughton has consistently pointed out that even if he didn’t sign anyone on or immediately before the transfer window deadline on January 31 – as transpired – all was not lost.

From February 8 and, up until and including March 22, Blues and others in the Championship can strike emergency loans (short term).

These run for a minimum of 28 days and no longer than the 93-day maximum.

There is no limit on the number of emergency loans a club can take during a season.

Hughton and his rivals also have the option of arranging youth loans (length unlimited).

These are for Academy scholars or players under 20.

Chris Wood, then 19, signed for Blues on a youth loan from Albion.

Jake Jervis and Akwasi Asante have been farmed out this season on the same basis.
