THEY may not be great in number but Blues’ small band of brothers are doing just fine this season.
And, according to Jonathan Spector, the togetherness of the squad is a main reason for Blues’ success.
Chris Hughton’s men are at Chelsea today (12.30pm) hoping to cause an upset in the FA Cup fifth round.
And if they were to pull off a shock, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to the American midfielder or defender.
“Certainly we have a strong sense of camaraderie and team spirit here and with a small squad it’s easier to achieve that,’’ said Spector.
“But it’s also the personalities we have. It’s the impact of that. It’s a good group of lads and we all enjoy each other’s company and working hard for each other.
“I think you can see it from our performances.
“Every player and coach is going to say the team spirit is high.
“But certainly the proof here is in the displays we have been putting out all season long.
“That camaraderie will continue to stand us in good stead right the way through to the end of the season and hopefully promotion.
“We have a small but talented squad and it’s a group that is very together.”
Blues tackle Chelsea without the injured trio of Marlon King, Nikola Zigic and Guirane N’Daw. Jake Jervis, Akwasi Asante, Callum Reilly and Brice Ntambwe have been added to the squad.
Adam Rooney is set to lead the attack, probably on his own with support from a player tucked just behind, or in a 4-5-1.
Spector admitted the odds were against Blues but that has often been the case so far this campaign, notably in the Europa League, and they have never caved in.
