CHRIS Hughton revealed that Birmingham City youngsters Jordon Mutch and Nathan Redmond proved him and his staff wrong at Barnsley.
The pair were pivotal in Blues third goal at Oakwell, which came when a devastating raid was launched by Mutch with a fine long diagonal pass from left to right.
Redmond finished the move off in style with a first time blast from a very difficult angle.
"Jordon's pass for the third goal was one, at the time, we felt he shouldn't have done," admitted the Blues boss.
"We felt he should have kept it down the left hand side and use Nathan.
"But he's pulled this fabulous pass out - which he's capable of doing - and then Chris Burke does what he does best: taking a player on and getting to the byline.
"By the time Nathan got across in there we felt that the angle was too tight. We felt it wasn't possible, we half expected him to stop it and cut back on his right foot.
"But it ended up being a good decision because the ball ended up in the back of the net. It was not just the technical strike, but the angle."
Mutch was dynamic in Blues midfield during their 3-1 victory that took them up to third in the Championship table.
