Stephen Carr to be sidelined for three weeks, Guirane N'Daw back in the Birmingham City fold

BLUES captain Stephen Carr is likely to be out of action for around three weeks.

Carr came off at Chelsea in the FA Cup after a heavy challenge by Ryan Bertrand inflamed his knee.

He has missed Blues’ last two matches.

“He’s the only definite injury this weekend,” reported manager Chris Hughton.

“He will be out for a period of about three weeks.

“No, I wouldn’t say it’s a concern. It’s more a feel for Stephen.

“He’s always desperate to play and after missing a period, he came back and in the Chelsea game went off early.

“He’s one who always likes to train, he hates missing training and always wants to play.

“In that area Jonathan Spector has played a lot of games so we do have cover and certainly now having brought in Peter Ramage, who can play centre-half or right-back, there’s even more.” Ramage goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s visit of Derby County, but striker Caleb Folan needs more conditioning, said Hughton.

Midfielder Guirane N’Daw is fit after a hamstring strain and in contention, Hughton confirmed.

Fellow schemer Keith Fahey missed Ireland’s midweek friendly because of a groin injury and will be assessed before tomorrow’s game.
